MORNING

To start the day, take a stroll down Kaerntnerstrasse, the city's premier shopping street, and do some window shopping. Stop off at the Demel Coffee House - one of the most traditional coffee house of Imperial Vienna - and enjoy a coffee and pastry in its lavish Rococo and Art Deco interior. Afterwards, make your way to the Imperial Palace to see the horses of the Spanish Riding School in training. This is the only riding school in the world where classic dressage is still practised in its purest form. Then, take a walk through the historic and imposing Heldenplatz (Heroes' Square), arriving at the Museums Quartier.

AFTERNOON

Spend some time exploring the wealth of art in 'the Twins', the immense Fine Art and Natural Art museums, or pop into the Leopold Museum, the world's largest showcase of works by the Austrian expressionist Egon Schiele. Lovers of contemporary art should pop into MUMOK (the Museum of Modern Art), and families might want to have a look at the ZOOM children's museum. For a fabulous lunch or even a late breakfast (served until 4pm), you should stop at the Halle, which has a modern but still very local atmosphere.

EVENING

To finish your day in Vienna, a musical performance is a must. For opera, check what's on at the famous Vienna State Opera or the Volksoper. In the famous Musikverein or Konzerthaus there are outstanding classical concerts performed by the Vienna Philharmonic and Vienna Symphonic orchestras. The Concierge can give you advice and book tickets for you.
