MORNING

The lake Wannsee with its surrounding forests, south-west of the city centre, is the perfect alternative to the hectic city-life of the German capital. In the morning the 7-lakes-tour starts here on the river Havel and goes past the Peacock's Island and Cecilienhof. During this 2-hour tour you can enjoy idyllic views of the Havel-lakes. All year round Glienicke Palace, near Glienicke Bridge, captivates the visitor with its historic and architectural beauty. It was built in 1823 by Prince Carl of Prussia.

AFTERNOON

A must-see at the Wannsee is the Max Liebermann Mansion. In 1909 the painter Max Liebermann had this mansion built as his summer residence and proudly called it his "palace at the lake". Here he could find the necessary peace and inspiration for his late work. More than 200 paintings were created in the sprawling garden surrounding the building. Very close by you will find the Haus Sansoucci, which offers culinary delicacies in a stylisch ambiance with an awesome view. The house of the Wannsee Conference is also worth a visit and easy to reach in a few minutes walk along the Wannsee. On January 20, 1942, top-ranking government officials and the SS negotiated the realization of the deportation of all Jews to the East and their selective homicide. This meeting has been referred to as the "Wannsee Conference" ever since. In January 1992, on the 50th anniversary of this historical event, the villa was turned into a memorial.

EVENING

On the way back to the Berlin City Center its worth to visit the restaurant La Raclette for dinner. The upmarked italian restaurant serves culinary delicicies and offers a scenic view over the Halensee. In winter they heaten up the fireplace and in sommer they open the terrace with a fantastic atmosphere. On the lake you will find a wooden platform wit an integrated bar, where you can go for a digestif after dinner.
