Begin the day with a short drive into the heart of Midtown. Less than five miles south of Buckhead, this stylish district has a nice combination of trendy lofts, shops and cafes, including the perfect bohemian breakfast eatery, The Flying Biscuit. This eclectic cafe; serves its signature biscuits and jams and is totally in tune with the neighbourhood. You can also take away its recipes. After brunch, turn the corner on 10th St to find Atlanta's Piedmont Park. With its many walking and jogging paths, fishing ponds and picnic spots, it's a great escape from the urban bustle. On the west side of the park, look for Skate Escape, where you can rent some in-line skates.

Go and explore the High Museum of Art, the Southeast's premier art gallery. Designed by the acclaimed architect Richard Meier, this multi-award-winning, Modernist space contains over 11,000 works of art in its permanent collection. In the newly expanded section, designed by Renzo Piano, you'll find Table 1280, a lovely spot for sipping a signature Woodruff while pondering the meaning of abstract art.

Make your way a few blocks south to Baraonda for an aperitif and an early dinner. Share a plate of antipasto misto with calamari and follow with a tasty wood-fired pizza. To round off the evening, linger like a local in one of Atlanta's most charming neighborhoods, Virginia Highland. Located at the crossroads of Virginia Avenue and Highland Avenue, the area is dotted with boutiques, cafes and galleries. Most of these spots prop their doors open a little later, so you can saunter about while finishing the night with a gelato from the best ice-cream shop in the city, Paolo's Gelato... Enjoy.
