LOCAL CULTURE

San Francisco Folklore

Don't call it "Frisco". We ride Cable Cars not trams. The coldest winter is the summer you'll spend in San Francisco! Our favorite foods are Dungeness Crab and sourdough bread.

Tip at your discretion.

These are just guidelines for those first time visitors to San Francisco. It's customary to tip 18-25 percent at most restaurants. Porters $3.00 per bag is standard.

DID YOU KNOW?

Transportation Muni Passports

You can purchase a 1, 3 or 7 day pass for your public transportation needs. They are currently $14.00, $21.00 and $27.00. These passes allow you unlimited use on the Cable Cars and any city bus, one way fare is $6.00!

Lombard Street

This is the most famous crooked street in the city but there is another one just as crooked, do you know where it is located? It's in the Portrero Hill neighborhood. Ask the Concierge.

Temperature

Our year round average is around 60-65 degrees. Coldest time is in the summer and warmest in the fall.

WHAT TO PACK?

Good walking shoes

The city has many steep hills. Bringing some appropriate footwear will help you enjoy its many charms.

Warm clothing

We recommend you bring a jacket. In San Francisco you need warm clothes with you year round as the temperature changes frequently. Layered wool or cotton works well.
