Holidays are sacred in Mexico, but it's only really banks and government office closures that may affect your travel. Some businesses may either open late or close early on certain holidays.

Religion

Most Mexicans are devoted Catholics and believers in the Virgin of Guadalupe. Please remain highly respectful and use your discretion if you visit the Guadalupe Church.

Botana

If you'd like a typical 'botana' (snack), visit the little vendors on the malecon (boardwalk) where you can find cheap food and drinks with an authentic Mexican flavor.

Botanical Gardens

Puerto Vallarta has a new botanical garden with native Mexican trees, orchids and cacti, which offers wonderful birdwatching opportunities. They are located very close from our resort.

Children's Fishing Tournament

Every year the fishing club of Puerto Vallarta has a tournament for kids, with more than 200 children involved in this growing event, which has prizes, t-shirts, snacks and refreshments. There are two categories to enter: ages 2 to 6 and 7 to 12. Entry to the competition is free.

Golf

If you are a golf lover, Puerta Vallarta has many fabulous golf courses near to the hotel. Standard green fees range from US$100-210 with various online discounts and resort packages. Other expenses include mandatory carts and caddies, food and drinks.

Location

Mismaloya is well known for being the set of the classic movie 'The Night of the Iguana', which spurred Puerto Vallarta's arrival as a tourist destination.
