Banks
Service bank generally are between 9am and 2pm, some banks close at 4pm. Most credit card are accepted in all establishments.
Communications
To make telephone calls from the hotel, please call the switchboard operator for information about telephone numbers and connections. There are also phone cards available in many stores; just make sure you know how much time the card you buy has so you can get one to suit your needs.
Food
The typical dish of Puerto Vallarta is the famous pescado sarandeado (barbecued fish). Be sure to try it during your stay.
Holidays
Holidays are sacred in Mexico, but it's only really banks and government office closures that may affect your travel. Some businesses may either open late or close early on certain holidays.
Religion
Most Mexicans are devoted Catholics and believers in the Virgin of Guadalupe. Please remain highly respectful and use your discretion if you visit the Guadalupe Church.
Botana
If you'd like a typical 'botana' (snack), visit the little vendors on the malecon (boardwalk) where you can find cheap food and drinks with an authentic Mexican flavor.
Botanical Gardens
Puerto Vallarta has a new botanical garden with native Mexican trees, orchids and cacti, which offers wonderful birdwatching opportunities. They are located very close from our resort.
Children's Fishing Tournament
Every year the fishing club of Puerto Vallarta has a tournament for kids, with more than 200 children involved in this growing event, which has prizes, t-shirts, snacks and refreshments. There are two categories to enter: ages 2 to 6 and 7 to 12. Entry to the competition is free.
Golf
If you are a golf lover, Puerta Vallarta has many fabulous golf courses near to the hotel. Standard green fees range from US$100-210 with various online discounts and resort packages. Other expenses include mandatory carts and caddies, food and drinks.
Location
Mismaloya is well known for being the set of the classic movie 'The Night of the Iguana', which spurred Puerto Vallarta's arrival as a tourist destination.
Adaptor
Please don't forget your cellular phone charger. If you visit us from Europe, remember to bring an adaptor, but if you forget you may also borrow one from the hotel.

Cashing traveler's checks
When cashing traveler's checks, be prepared to present your passport or other official ID. Current exchange rates are usually posted for US and Canadian dollars, as well as other major currencies.
Clothes
We are located in a tropical zone, but if you are traveling between December and March, we recommend that you bring a light sweater since it may get a bit cold at night.
Medical needs
Puerto Vallarta is proud to offer medical services equal to any international destination. Several local hospitals and clinics are able to handle any emergency 24/7. Several drugstores are open 24/7 and carry a wide range of medication.
