Weather
Panama has two seasons: the dry season from December to April and rainy season from April to December. Our hotel is located on the Pacific Ocean, where we have high tide and low tide.
Multicultural
Since the beginning of our history, we have been a multicultural country represented by a rainbow of races from all around the world.
Tips
Tips are not automatically included on the bills. It is customary to tip 10% to 15% depending on the type of service you received.
Slangs
Panamanian slangs: que xopa (what´s up), diablo rojo (red devil buses - public transportation), gringo / gringa (white people), bien cuidao (street person asking for a tip for taking care of your car) also we use some english words in our spanish (spanglish) zipper, friend, cool, pritty, flashlight.
Beach & City
Playa Bonita is the only beach resort close to the city - only 20 minutes from downtown.
Insurance
Panama is one of the first countries in Central America to offer free medical insurance to every tourist.
Both Oceans
Panama touches both the Pacific and Atlantic Oeans and you can get to each of them within 45 minutes from Panama City. Panama Canal connects both oceans through around 50 miles Canal.
Water
In our country it is safe to drink the water from the tap.
Clothes
The weather is warm tropical, with an average temperature of 80º F. Bring comfortable clothes, during the day shorts, summer dresses, flip flops, sneakers, don’t forget your sun glasses and sun block. At night Panamanians likes to dress up: Men wear slacks, dress shirts or polos and Women wear dresses, skirts, pants or dressy jeans.
Currency
Our official currency is the Balboa, and has the equivalence to the American US Dollar. The US dollar circulates freely as legal tender. Panamanian coins are of the same value, size and metal as US coins, though both are frequently used. If you don`t want to exchange your currency before your trip (ex. Euros), we have plenty of ATMs and also accept bank cards on most networks (Plus, Cirrus, MasterCard, Visa, Amex).
