Car Parking
There are several rules when it comes to parking your car in Montreal. When in doubt, ask our concierge.
Currency and Taxes
The unit of currency is the Canadian dollar. There are many currency exchange centers throughout the downtown area. They either charge a fee or take a couple of percentage points off the exchange rate for their services.
Most goods and services in Quebec are subject to two taxes, a federal Goods and Services Tax of 5% (TPS on receipts). and a provincial sales tax of 9.5% (TVQ on receipts). A tax of 3% per night of hotel stay is also charged.
GRATUITIES
A tip of 15% is customarily left for waiters and waitresses at the table, calculated on the pre-tax total of your bill. You are free to leave more or less than a 15% tip if circumstances warrant.
Weather advice
Montreal's climate varies a lot over the year. The city is known for its cold winters, but its summers are hot and generally sunny, with occasional muggy days. Average temperatures vary from 10 to 25°F (-13° to 5°C) in January to 65-80°F (18°-27°C) in July.

Language
Quebec, the Province in which Montreal is located, is the largest French-speaking territory in North America. English, however, is widely spoken in Montreal.
Parc Jean-Drapeau
Originally built from the leftover dirt from the construction of our metro system, Parc Jean Drapeau was the site of the 1967 World Exposition. Now, completely transformed, you will find the Formula 1 race-track, the Montréal Casino, La Ronde (amusement park) and a public beach.
WHAT TO PACK?
Adapter
Electricity in Canada is 110V and the plugs are the same as in the U.S. If you come from a country that uses 220V electricity, you will have to bring a converter for any device you bring along.
Camera
Montreal has many beautiful sights, so bring a camera and you'll have lots of beautiful memories to keep.
Comfortable shoes
The best way to discover most of the city is on foot, so pack some walking shoes.
ID tags
If arriving by plane, make sure to have personal ID tags on your luggage, aside from your airline tags.
