Finding an affordable hotel in Paris that’s conveniently located can be a bit of a challenge. Luckily, Holiday Inn® Hotels and Resorts has dozens of locations throughout the city, putting you a few short steps (or a Métro ride away) from all the major attractions. The hardest part might be deciding which Paris hotel to book.
Paris is made up of 20 districts or “arrondissements”. Given the compact nature of the city, you can move easily from one district to the next, enjoying the rich culture and history of each. The 1st arrondissement is centrally located on the Right Bank of the River Seine. Here, you’ll find the world-renowned Louvre Museum and impressive Tuileries Gardens. Visitors tend to spend the majority of their time in the 1st arrondissement or head to nearby Champs-Elysées.
Champs-Elysées Avenue is one of the most beautiful streets in Paris and is a must-see during your Paris hotel stay. It offers upscale shopping, cinemas, cafes and access to the Arc de Triomphe monument. The Right Bank is also home to one of the oldest neighborhoods in Paris, Le Marais. Le Marais is comprised of the 3rd and 4th arrondissements and is a popular area for its historic homes and trendy restaurants and clubs. You’ll also find the Notre Dame Cathedral and Place des Vosges in the 4th.
The Left Bank of the Seine (or La Rive Gauche) is considered the more bohemian side of Paris, though you’re more likely to find upscale art galleries and fashion boutiques in St.
Germain des Pres than starving artists. The Latin Quarter is one of the oldest districts in Paris and offers a quaint village atmosphere and reasonably priced cafes and brasseries (an informal restaurant that serves simple meals accompanied by wine or beer). The Latin Quarter is also home to the Sorbonne and the Pantheon.
As you continue up river to the 7th arrondissement, you’ll see the Eiffel Tower - hands down, the most popular tourist attraction in Paris and a must-see for all first-time visitors. The view from the top will take your breath away, especially at night when the City of Lights earns its name. The Musee de Orsay is also in the 7th arrondissement. This noted museum features works from a wide array of French artists, including Monet, Degas, Renoir and Cezanne.
Of course, this is only a small sampling of what there is to explore near our Paris hotels. Some of the best attractions are found in the perimeter districts, so don’t be afraid to venture out – especially if you’re looking for family friendly activities. The Cité des Sciences et de l’Industrie at La Villette is the biggest science museum in Europe and features interactive exhibitions and a full-size submarine. The Centre Prompidou offers workshops and special children’s galleries designed to introduce younger audiences to the world of contemporary art.
Another noteworthy destination for families is the Jardin des Plantes (or “Garden of Plants”). This massive botanical garden and museum system is conveniently located on the Left Bank in the 5th arrondissement. Within the Natural History Museum, you’ll find galleries dedicated to mineralogy, paleontology, entomology and evolution. In addition to the beautiful gardens, there’s also a zoo and aquarium on the grounds.
