Causes dedicated to the welfare of children play a central role in the charitable initiatives of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts brand. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is the presenting sponsor of Designs of Hope, a series of fashion-themed fund-raising events benefiting UNICEF’s programs to provide support to orphans and children made vulnerable by HIV/AIDS. Hosted at InterContinental Hotels in the U.S., Designs of Hope evenings celebrate the diversity and talent of each city’s civic, business and arts communities with a program that includes a gourmet dinner, auction, fashion show and headliner entertainment. Through 2006, the Designs of Hope event series has raised more than $3.1 million for UNICEF.

One of the hallmark features of Hotel Indigo, IHG’s new collection of “branded boutique” hotels, is a continuously changing look for its guest rooms and public spaces. This prompted the development of a new program called “Future In.pressionists,” through which each Hotel Indigo property partners with its local visual arts community to allow up-and-coming artists to use the hotel as an exhibit space. In some cases, these local artists will be commissioned to create works for use across the brand.
